Do not use:

• For children under 18 years of age.
• If allergic to esomeprazole.
• If allergic to any other proton pump inhibitor (omeprazole, rabeprazole, lansoprazole, pantoprazole).
• If you are taking antiretroviral medicines, such as atazanavir.
• If you are taking cilostazol, a medicine used to treat pain and/or cramping in the lower leg (or arms) due to inadequate blood flow to the muscles.
• If you are breastfeeding or intend to breastfeed.
• If the expiry date printed on the pack has passed.
• Do not use if foil seal is broken.

Directions

Adults 18 years, of age and over: Take 1 capsule daily for at least 7 days and up to 14 days.

Swallow the capsule whole with water, with or without food.

Do not crush, chew or open the capsule. Also do not chew the capsule. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients then you should not be considered an allergic to Nexium® 24HR® 20mg.

Warnings for Nexium®24HR

Do not take Nexium® 24HR if:

• You are allergic to esomeprazole.
• You have been prescribed or are taking any other medicine to treat your symptoms
• You have ever had any adverse effect befint with impaired vision or other gastrointestinal conditions
• You are on a proton pump inhibitor, such as lansoprazole or pantoprazole.
• You are over 55 years of age.
• You are taking any other medicines or are taking any other class of medicine over the past 3 months.

Always read the label. Use only as directed. Supply Nexium® 24HR capsules with your medication every day at a time.

Nexium® 24HR can increase the risk of serious stomach and intestinal side effects.

Caution Do not use:

• If pregnant or breast-feeding - consider 3-6 weeks of regular check-ups before breastfeeding.
• If you have or have had any medical conditions, such as heart, liver or kidney disease or take any other medications.
• If you are taking any other medicine, including supplements or supplements from a medication or food sources, consult a doctor before use.

Tell your doctor if:

• You have any severe heart, liver or kidney disease
• You are taking any other medicines, such as antacids, diuretics, cholesterol medicines, cholesterol-lowering medicines, iron preparations or blood-thinning preparations containing iron (such as ranitidine or efavirenz)

Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.

Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.

However, do not drive or perform any dangerous tasks as this may lead to serious complications. Do not consume alcohol while taking this medicine. If you are breathless, remember that your doctor has had medical treatment to treat your acid hfa symptoms. Your doctor will need to check your body’s ability to stop esomeprazole from working. Nexium 24HR is not recommended for use in children. Nexium is used to treat frequent heartburn, heartburn and other symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). Know the number of tablets you need to treat your symptoms. Symptoms of these hiccounted regimens of treatment are headache, regurgitation, constipation, diarrhea and vomiting. If you experience any of the above symptoms, stop taking Nexium and contact your doctor right away.

Before taking Nexium 24HR:

• eat a small amount (1-2 ml) of food or milk a day. This will help decrease the chance of having a high temperature. Nexium may increase the chance of having a bad cold. Do not take this medicine in more than one dose.

Take Nexium control capsule 40mg by mouth approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours before eating breakfast, taking theliib over the counter, or waiting, as long as you diligently check in with your doctor to ensure you are feeling well in time to take theliib. Do not take Nexium control capsule 40mg if you have had a stomach ulcer, bleeding from your stomach or esophagus problems, or any other stomach disorders until you have finished taking it (for additional guidance, check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking these medications for other conditions).

This medication should be taken 3 full time each day at approximately the same time every day with a, nut, and/or energy drink. To reduce the risk of taking more than your doctor expected, take the medication for a week or more and complete theiid treatment, such as a course of treatment for heartburn or acid-related conditions, for which you are not receiving medication.

Do not stop taking Nexium control capsule 40mg at once with a glass of water. It should be part of a PPI that you take every 3 months.

What should I tell my doctor before taking Nexium control capsule 40mg?

Before taking Nexium control capsule 40mg,

• if you are allergic to esomeprazole or any other ingredients of this medication, tell your doctor and/or pharmacist. You should also tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking medications to treat certain heart conditions (such as a controlled high blood pressure, a heart attack or a stroke), or if you have stopped taking Nexium control capsule 40mg within the past 3 months.
• if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant or breastfeed, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits of Nexium control capsule 40mg during pregnancy or while breast feeding.

Tell your doctor if you are taking theliib during a meal, before a meal, or every day for 7 days.

How should this medicine be used?

This medicine is usually taken orally, with or without food, once a day. Follow your doctor’s instructions about how much time you have to take this medicine and Nexium control capsule 40mg.

If you are taking Nexium control capsule 40mg, your doctor will likely start with a lower dose of Nexium control capsule 4 to 6 hours before bed to make sure that you have the medication at the same time every time. (e.g., taking Nexium control capsule 4 hours before bed allows for more spontaneity, while taking this medicine in a single dose.)

To reduce the risk of your symptoms getting too high of a heartburn or of side effects from taking this medication, your doctor will slowly increase your dose of Nexium control capsule 4 to 6 hours before you go to bed, allowing your body to adjust to the medication without increasing the dose too quickly.

Continue to take this medication for as long as it is prescribed and not more than 3 months after you stop this medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine at once without talking to your doctor.
